A productive week for all

This week I baked my finest loaf! My Mum used to enter her bread in the village shows near their home when she and my dad first married. Her cottage loaf won first prize and I like to think I may have inherited her baking gene!

I also used up the last of my carrots in another beef and carrot pie. It really is lovely to use home-grown fruit and veg in cooking; next year I hope to be more organised and try to grow more.

The mirror that I bought at the Country Living Christmas fair a few weeks back has  now migrated from the dining room table and found itself upon the wall. I decided that it would be best on our minute "landing" area which can be a bit dark. Hopefully the mirror will reflect the light from the second bedroom and brighten the space a bit.

And it has also been a busy week for Holly who has been working hard to become a black belt in the silent art of napping!

  3. Hi Charlotte, wow your loaf of bread looks lovely - wish I could get mine to look like that. It's great growing your own veg isn't it... I grew a chilli plant this year but might have to have a go at carrots next year too! Sarah x

  6. What a fabulous loaf! Love the mirror and where you've placed it, our staircase is a hall of mirrors as it's on the North side of the house.

  11. The loaf of bread looks really yummy. It is one thing I have never tried but it always strikes me as being really complicated.
I love your home pictures, its very pretty and homely. I also have a cat called marmalade who seems to sleep as much as Holly.

  13. Fatastic job with that bread! We use mirrors in the same way - they really do bounce light around wonderfully. Is the mirror French? It certainly looks it.
