Another trip to Ardingly ensued last week, we must have decided to go on the rainiest day of the year! We got absolutely drenched and I felt very sorry for the traders who had to set up in the field with no shelter! But we didn't come back empty handed, we found a nice old peel board (this is what the seller called it but every time I tell someone I bought a peel board I get a blank look!)
I had also been hankering after a dough bowl, and the same seller had one just the right size...
While we sheltering from some of the worst of the rain, I happened to spy a little French wire basket, I think originally for keeping garlic bulbs in?
And finally, a lovely shaped bone handled carving knife set - now we will be able to serve our roasts in style!
And while we were running about like mad people in the downpour, Ivy had made herself very comfortable - I think she definitely had the right idea!
Lovely finds at the fair. Love that last photo of your cat looking pretty chilled in its basket having avoided the rain!

Me encántan los cubiertos y el gato es genial, está muy agusto.
ReplyDeleteCoveting all of that... especially the cat! Why can't I get into that position? It looks so comfy ;-)

Love everything you bought. Last time I visited Ardingly it was on the coldest day of the year!
ReplyDeleteIvy is so sweet! Cats do always seem to know the best way to spend a rainy day...or any other day for that matter. My own Miss Kitty finds the coziest places to nap.
ReplyDeleteLovely finds, I think you are right about the little basket. I won't forget that fair in a hurry.. although Shepton has been pretty grim this weekend! Lizzie x
ReplyDeleteFanatastic finds, I have been venturing into bread making so know exactly what a peel board is and am most envious! Your loot makes the rain a worthwhile price to pay! Bx
ReplyDeleteI wonder why it is called a peel board but having read Belinda's comment I guess it must have something to do with bread making.
ReplyDeleteI would have fought you for the little garlic basket: it is so sweet.

What a treat for a dreary, wet Monday morning, I just popped over and found three posts to catch up on! I love your latest finds, they look perfect in your kitchen, you have such a good eye for picking up exactly the right things.
ReplyDeleteI just want to tickle Ivy's tummy! x
Fabulous finds! I love old cutting boards. I have two dough bowls. They are fun to use to decorate with. I just changed what I have in one to some autumn items. Ivy looks very contented while napping!

What fabulous finds - I would love to go to Ardingly but it is a little too far from Devon!! I especially love the Peel Board it looks great in your kitchen.

What a treasure haul...Great photos too!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderfully English your photos are!
ReplyDeleteAs an ex-pat, living in New York, I found them a treat!
Great finds!! For the wire basket, it is a salad basket; It was used to wring out the salad after it was washed. You had to go outside to do it, balancing your arm back and forth (not sure it's the right way to say it).
ReplyDeleteLovely post.
oh, my, you made out like a bandit! LOVE the pizza peel and that bread bowl is gorgeous!!
