It will go above the day bed in guest bedroom when we finally get round to putting it up on the wall! We also bought this sweet little chest which looks really good under our french coat hooks in the "cloak room" area!
There are also some great shops in Kirkcudbright, I spied a really unusual jasper ware style jug which my thoughtful husband later bought for me for Valentines - who says romance is dead?
I've also been filling the cottage with more signs for spring, the crocuses I planted have started to flower ...
and the hyacinth bulbs can't have long to go now until they too are in full bloom.
I've been looking for something to hang on the wall over the fireplace in the main bedroom, I had thought that a nice decorative plate might have been the answer. I won these pretty plates on eBay:
But I'm not sure if either of them are right - the wall still seems a bit bare!
Enjoy the rest of your week!
Love your finds, the little pine chest is perfect in that space. If you want to fill the space above the fireplace maybe you could collect a few more of those lovely plates and group them together on the wall.I have done this in our bedroom and it looks really nice.
ReplyDeleteThose hyacinths will soon fill the cottage with their beautiful perfume! :0)
I just love your cottage and your decorating. The Victorian shelf and chest are gorgeous, perfect additions to your beautiful cottage. I agree with the above suggestion, a few more of those sweet plates would complete the wall above the fireplace.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful finds. I agree with bellaboo. The wall would look nice with a few plates on it... Country Living (last Spring) did a similar display on their front cover and it looked lovely. Just the ticket for your wonderful cottage. Lx
ReplyDeleteYour cottage looks so lovely. The little chest is perfect! I agree that maybe you need a group of plates. x
ReplyDeleteoh I have just found your blog -it's gorgeous and so is your cottage. I also agree with the others that a few more plates are needed to make a stronger impression. Happy hunting! Linda

Delighted to have stumbled upon your lovely blog - sort of makes me nostalgic for our first cottage in a city (in Leeds), 2up 2down with roses round the door - I thought it perfection! You have made some fab buys, and your cottage looks gorgeous and cosy. The plates are sooo pretty but maybe you'd be happier with something a bit bigger filling that wall?? A collection of lovely plates or bigger picture or mirror or something...scale is a curiously tricky thing!
ReplyDeletei have only recently come across your lovely blog. Just had a good loof through. What a darling little cottage - it looks so lovely already xx
ReplyDeleteLove the hooks and the chest. Your fireplace is very pretty too.
ReplyDeleteHello there, I have just stumbled across your blog, and I love your style and your awesome cottage. The comments from the others about a cluster of plates is true, (or vintage art deco mirrors (i have 5 on my walls and it totally rocks) would look stunning. Love your blog and will follow so I can see what you get upto - have a look at mine -maybe you do the same :)
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend

I just adore that little fireplace and tiny mantel. There is nothing like that here in the States! Or else I would definetly have one. Teenie tiny cottages and features are my favorite.
