No lovely trips to vintage fairs or pretty villages this weekend. Instead I've been up to my elbows in bubble wrap and cardboard boxes. Building work is due to start on the garden room this Friday so we've decided to put our sitting room and dining room into storage in order to allow the builders easy access. Unfortunately we do not have separate side access to the garden, so everything will have to be taken through the house.
Although it's a bit of a pain to be covering everything in layers of tissue paper and bubble wrap, I've quite enjoyed the opportunity to reassess everything and think about de-cluttering and paring back. I've already accumulated a box of items that I would like to sell at some point; I've been collecting items before we actually had a home and I do find my tastes have changed slightly during the process. I'm veering away from chintz and busy patterns and find I'm drawn to calmer, less busy and cluttered styles.
I'm both excited and worried about the start of work on the garden room. I'm hoping my garden won't suffer too much during the work; a trench does have to be dug on one side of the garden, near the fence as we want to bury the electric and telephone lines, plus we also have to ensure the the saniflow pipes are dug in quite deep (a small W.C/shower room is also included in our plans for the garden room).
Hopefully, I will be posting photos of the work as it progresses!
