Country Living

Slowly and surely little green shoots and buds are reaching for the sun from the depths of my garden having slept soundly through the winter. It's nice to see them again after all this time and am I enjoying the discovery as each new bud slowly unfurls. Yesterday was lovely and warm in the garden, up to 21 degrees! I planted and watched as Holly and Ivy scampered about and played in the sun, listening to the birdsong.

Last week I went with a friend to the Spring Country Living fair, money was spent and much hilarity was had. We had a lovely time wandering around and so many of the stalls were set up beautifully, the Sea Garden looked superb again this year and Caroline Zoob's stall always sets my heart racing. But the "smash and grab" atmosphere really gets a bit much and at times can only be described as a frenzy! I came home with quite a few treasures for the cottage; a lovely white Sadler jug for flowers or lemonade;

 a pretty little teacup to hang from a hook - just now it's on the dresser, but it may do a bit of travelling later;

some little milk bottles to hold sprigs of flora from the garden;

a lovely large French wicker laundry basket - which I will be using to hold my ironing but when it is not in use it will live on top of our wardrobe perhaps with a quilt inside it!

I also got the very last egg candle from Caroline Zoob, I was a bit disappointed that I had missed out on the pretty speckled eggs that they had earlier, more evidence of the crazy atmosphere at the fair!

Hopefully, I might be able to hunt down a few more so that  I can put together a lovely display for Easter.

  7. Am very envious about Country Living Fair! I went a couple of years ago with my daughter and we loved it but know what you mean about 'smash and grab'. Lovely pictures and glad you had nice time ... Maybe next year xxx

  8. So glad you had a lovely time at Country Living Fair, and what gorgeous finds. I am trying the Decorative Living Fair (which is run by Caroline Zoob) in Tunbridge Wells in May, might be worth a look. Enjoy the sunshine today.

  9. How lucky you are to be able to go to the Country Living Fair. It is my very favorite magazine. It has been summer like here too in Holland but is now turning colder again. Still...if there is a little sunshine then it is a bit warmer. I love forget-me-nots and just mentioned to my husband that we have to buy some for our new house's garden this year so they can start to seed themselves.

    I love the jug! I collect jugs and this one is so beautiful in its simplicity.

    Hugs from Holland ~
