Home produce

My flailing borage seems to have picked itself up this week and hardly needs propping at all. The bees are most thankful and flock to the blue and pink hued blossoms greedily buzzing from flower to flower. While I was out in the garden this morning, listening to the buzzing of all the bees I noticed that they don't all have the same buzz. They are all at slightly different pitches and one particular little bee had a very high pitched buzz, so much so that he sounded like a miniature kazoo buzzing round the flowers!

I have taken a leaf from the bees' book and been extra busy too resulting in an unusually productive start to the month. Keen to test out our new oven I've been baking rather a lot; a round of scones made to my Granny's recipe and a chicken and leek pie to name just a few dishes that have emerged from my little cream "range"!
The second lot of strawberries are starting to ripen along with the borlotti beans, spinach and radishes. When I went out to surreptitiously pillage some blooms for a little indoor posy I remembered the advice of a fellow blogger and got snipping on my mint plant. It could still be a little bit bigger but the mint certainly improves the shape and structure of the arrangement, propping up my handful of sweetpeas so that they don't disappear to the bottom of the jar!

  7. Gosh what a wonderful montage of delights! This is the second blog post that I've read today where I have literally been left drooling! I've actually been baking quite a lot recently as well - mainly cupcakes as they're so quick and easy. Your scones and Victoria sponge have inspired me to branch away from the simple cupcake into something a little bit grander. A lovely post, and so well photographed.
    Best wishes,
